The People and Horses Who Make Fossil Ridge Guide Service

Josh Matheny is the owner of Fossil Ridge Guide Service. He has worked over the years to make FRGS a well rounded business offering many services to the public. A great guide, knowledgeable horseman, and an energetic businessman, Josh stands out in his field as a truly remarkable man with a mission.

Tom Gibbons is FRGS's winter teamster. He grew up working horses in Washington state's back country. He works in Colorado seasonally, spending his winters driving sleigh for FRGS. In summer, Tom returns to the Pacific Northwest to guide pack trip expeditions on horseback.
Mejho is a 7 year old, 16 hand, registered Quarter Horse gelding. He is owned by Josh Matheny. He has a puppy dog personality and loves to be loved.
Dick and Jane (left to right) are a mother and son team of strawberry roan Belgians. They top out at 17 hands and weigh around 4000 lbs together. As a team they are used to pull the sleighs and wagons, but they are also trained to ride.
Tracy and Travis (left to right) are a 6 year old team of Percheron geldings who stand around 17 hands. They are Amish trained to drive and were just added to our heard in the fall of '09. They will be started under saddle this summer.
